## The brief on file

Matthew — decide the fate of AnalyticsOverviewViewModel. NEEDS YOU; no engineering session can close it alone.

THE OLD FRAMING WAS WRONG ON EVERY FACT. Re-verified in code 2026-08-11 (round 15):

- THERE IS NO OVERVIEW SCREEN. It was deleted in 3dbc8895 ("delete dead Analytics screens"). `grep -rn "OverviewScreen" apps/ios --include=*.swift` returns NOTHING, and none of the 13 files in Features/Analytics/Pages/ is an Overview page. So the choice is NOT "ship the finished screen or delete it" — it is "WRITE A NEW SCREEN against this view model, or DELETE the view model".
- It is 358 lines, not ~1,000.
- Its own doc comment (:6-8) says "six parallel fetches" and is out of date with its own code: 7 `async let` in the primary refresh (:131-137) plus 8 more in a second group (:254-261) = 15, across 17 distinct private fetch funcs and 29 @Published properties.
- "The only sub-page currently threaded to the backend" is in AnalyticsHostView.swift:26, not in the view model, and is FALSE: 8 of the analytics view models call AnalyticsAPIClient today (Compare, Deep Dive, Map, Goals, Realtime, Insights, Tile, and this one).
- Nothing consumes it. `overviewVM` appears exactly once — AnalyticsHostView.swift:44, the @StateObject declaration, never read. 4 references in project.pbxproj (build membership only).
- `.overview` is excluded from SubPage.selectable (AnalyticsKitShell.swift:33) and has no host branch, so it falls through to AnalyticsComingSoonView and is unreachable. It cannot be gated (see t_12525c4a).

VIV'S RECOMMENDATION: DELETE the view model, and file the Overview *idea* as a fresh product decision if you still want that screen.

Why: what has value here is 358 lines of fetch orchestration against an API that eight other view models already call — not a screen. Writing a new Overview screen is a product decision about whether a seventh analytics tab earns its place next to Deep Dive, Compare and Map, all of which now exist and are live; it is not a salvage job, and the view model would be a poor starting point anyway because it fans out 15 parallel requests for a surface nobody has designed. Against that, keeping it costs a compile in every build, one dead @StateObject that instantiates on every Analytics appearance, and a standing invitation for the next cleanup to mistake it for a live path — which is exactly how 3dbc8895 removed 4,127 lines on the strength of a stale comment.

WHAT BREAKS EITHER WAY: deleting touches AnalyticsHostView.swift:44 (remove the @StateObject) plus 4 pbxproj entries — and pbxproj is a non-synchronized project file that only one iOS session may edit at a time (t_05660f7d). Nothing else references it, so nothing else breaks. Keeping it breaks nothing today and costs the above.

Say the word and Viv executes it in one PR. NOT DONE and deliberately so: no code deleted, no tab restored, no Overview screen written, and no test invented to make a decision memo look like engineering.
