## The brief on file

CLOSED 2026-09-01 — all three phases of the gallery save round trip verified live (staging-api, quinn@tactile.to session). Phase 1 (PATCH arrange): 200, survivors at final index, doomed row trailing at 900 — the interrupted-save state the plan promises; duplicate sort_order accepted (GallerySavePlan's non-unique assumption holds). Phase 3 (delete-last): 200, end state correct. Phase 2 (POST items) initially FAILED on a REAL production defect — gallery_items.caption missing from the live DB while the deployed API read/wrote it, 500ing EVERY gallery load/create/add on staging AND prod. Root cause: repo migration 20260729_gallery_item_captions.sql never hand-applied. Fixed 2026-09-01: first-ever prod backup taken (scripts/db/backup.sh), migration applied via MCP apply_migration per its own header, PostgREST schema reloaded, then phase 2 re-verified PASS: create 200, items POST 200 (no PGRST204), caption round-trips in GET, prod signature gone, test destination deleted. Incidental for future harnesses: addGalleryItems parses item0_file/item0_sort_order/item0_caption multipart names (bare names only on PATCH single-item replace). Remaining product decision from the original prompt (30-item one-save swap refusal wording) is client-side, unaffected, tracked separately if wanted.
