## The brief on file

DONE — merged to main in 0a4faa24 (PR #225). Verified on main: SourcePickerPlaceholder at ui/destinations/create/CreateDestinationFlow.kt:457-458 now carries honest error copy.

CLOSED DIFFERENTLY FROM WHAT THE TASK ASKED, and the reason matters. The task said "delete unreachable SourcePickerPlaceholder". Line numbers were stale (call site :153, definition :433, not :124/:359) and — more importantly — the premise was half wrong.

Reachability analysis: sourceSectionsFor() returns real sections for LINKS/ACTIONS/MENUS/MEDIA/DOCS/CONTACT with `else -> null`, and PAYMENTS and FORMS are special-cased at the call site, so no VALID category reaches the placeholder. But the `{category}` route argument is parsed from a string, and one that does not resolve to a DestinationCategory yields null — which DOES reach it. It is a defensive fallback for a malformed deep link or a nav-graph mistake, not dead code. Deleting it would have removed a guard.

What was actually wrong was the COPY: "The {category} source picker (Build / Link / Connector) is coming next. Continue to preview the builder step." — promising a picker that had existed for months, which is why repeated audits filed it as unbuilt work. Worse, its "Continue" button walked the user ONWARD into a builder chosen by defaultBuilderFor() — guesswork off a category that had already failed to parse.

Rewritten as an honest dead end that offers the way back, with a kdoc stating plainly that it is a malformed-nav-arg fallback and NOT unbuilt work, so the next audit does not refile this. Its only helper, defaultBuilderFor(), was left unreferenced and deleted.
